STEAM Fair will be an expo of businesses and organizations coming together to provide education and interactive experiences in a family-friendly environment. Among the STEAM-related booths will be:
STEAM Competitions are being held to provide an experience for students who want to explore their creativity and learn more about these subjects with a hands-on approach. This is intended to empower students to participate in independent learning and spark creativity that will prepare them to travel on new adventures in life.
STEAM means Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. These areas are the building blocks of innovation and creativity. They also are areas of study that typically yield high-paying careers. You may be familiar with STEM; STEAM includes the arts. For more information on STEAM and STEM, check out the following resources:
We want to empower kids to explore education, be creative, and have fun in safe, constructive ways.
We want to show kids it’s okay to enjoy education and explore their creativity. Kids face constant pressure in middle and high school, and even after high school graduation, to “fit in” and “be cool.” As most parents know, those years fly by, and then there’s the rest of your life. We don’t want our kids or anyone else’s to miss out on opportunities to better their future, so are putting on an event where youth can see:
– Other students outside their classroom and school who enjoy these subjects as well,
– Professionals, business owners, and leaders who built lives in these areas and remain passionate,
– Opportunities to learn more with small businesses, schools, and organizations in their community
– Local employers who pay well for STEAM-related skills.
Competitions are another way to excite youth and young adults about these areas. Just as it would be cruel to bring ice cream to a group of kids and tell them how great the ice cream is, then walk away and not provide a sample or even a coupon to purchase a scoop, we want to provide an experience for those who are excited and want to participate further.

Unfortunately, no. Those competitions are conducted through the respective schools and school districts. In hosting our competition, we hope to encourage more kids to participate in their school’s competitions, where they can go on to win at the state, national or international levels.
Kids do not have to participate in competitions if they don’t want to. The fair will have plenty of educational and interactive stations where kids can find something to hopefully spark their interest and make them want to participate in future competitions or their school competitions.
You can find more information HERE.
The deadline to submit the intent to compete and topics is October 20th.
There will be scavenger hunts with prizes awarded every hour and day-of activities in each category for students to participate. We will also have several interactive displays throughout the day where kids can be hands-on and ask professionals questions. Several semi-final and finalist projects will be displayed, and there will be vendors where students can learn more about these areas.
Many vendors with information on student afterschool and weekend programs will be available to chat. There will also be lots of information from nonprofits and government organizations that you may find informative for your household. If all else fails, join the scavenger hunts, participate in the raffles, win prizes, or get in line for other activi
